ESG Strategies & Communication
Background
The listed companies in Singapore and ASEAN region have been using the GRI framework for reporting sustainability performances for more than a decade. In recent years, regulators and investors are sought more climate-related disclosure pressing for better understanding of the climate risk and its financial implications, requiring companies to transition to the TCFD framework. With the introduction of carbon tax, national commitments to reduce CO2 and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) must be addressed by the local businesses with more comprehensive ESG metrics.
Objective
In the course, major international sustainability reporting frameworks such as GRI, SASB, IIRC will be discussed including TCFD recommendations, CDP questionnaires, and GHG protocol to develop a deeper understanding of the structure and elements of the ESG metrics. Carbon Accounting and Management
Background
International investors and other stakeholders (i.e., trading partners, and consumers) are increasingly vigilant about the decarbonization commitment and strategies of companies. Singapore is the first ASEAN country to introduce a carbon tax while it is expected that other countries will follow in due course, paving the foundation for the growth of the regional carbon market. Companies will have to work on the carbon tax obligations and the associated financial implications in their short-term strategies. In their long-term strategies, organizations must find prudent ways to address the international decarbonization commitments as well as the market forces around emerging energy security.
Objective
The program will cover key aspects of the carbon market mechanism, carbon (tax) accounting, carbon inventory management and decarbonisation strategies. Sustainable and Green Finance

The size of green finance is still quite modest in the ASEAN region with Singapore alone accounting for around half of the market.
