Climate Resilient Industrial Development for a Green Economy in Bangladesh
Curtin University was a recipient of the Australia Awards Fellowship Round 19, funded by the Australian Government’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT). The fellowship brought together fifteen public servants from Bangladesh’s Ministry of Industries and its subordinate agencies for an intensive program on climate-resilient industrial development in Western Australia. Designed and delivered in partnership with Circular Economics, the program combined academic learning with practical exposure. Participants engaged in core and elective seminars covering sustainability measurement, industrial ecology, SDG localisation, action research methods, and Bangladesh’s sustainability challenges, alongside topics such as green growth, waste management, renewable energy, innovation, and sustainable cities. The program also included field visits to waste and resource recovery facilities, industrial parks, mining and agro-industry sites, and eco-villages across Western Australia. Through workshops and group work, participants developed action research projects aligned with Bangladesh’s industrial policy priorities.
